Review: NYX Retractable Lip Liner Pencil

NYX Retractable Lip Liner

NYX Retractable Lip Liner

I decided to pick up a couple of NYX products during my last trip to Ulta. I’ll be honest… I’ve purchased random NYX products in the past after hearing rave reviews from other artists or bloggers and I’ve never been “wowed.” Dare I put this in print: I’ve kinda been a makeup snob in the past. I know, I know… even typing it, makes me cringe a little in embarrassment. But its true. I started my career in makeup working for MAC, and if you know any MAC artists, you know we are a proud breed. We live, and breathe MAC. Nothing comes close in our eyes.

Well its been 7 seven years since I left MAC, and yes I’ve branched out quite a bit but I’m just now experimenting with Drug Store brands and I’ve got to say, I feel like I’ve been missing out. There are some great products out there! And this little lip pencil is definitely one of them!

I picked up the shades Nectar and Soft Pink and wore them both today, in place of lipstick. I lined with Nectar and filled in with Soft Pink. I actually just layered a thin layer of Lip Balm over to moisturize my lips and you’d never guess I wasn’t wearing lipstick. I applied my color around 9:30am and the color was still wearing strong by 6:30pm before eating dinner.

I will definitely be buying more shades of these and adding these to my professional kit. Bonus, its retractable so no sharpener needed! And at only $4.50, they are a great buy!

Check them out here!

Biggest Bragging Rights: Soft and glides on easily. Retractable (no sharpener needed). Very long wearing. Very affordable.

My Must Haves

MAC Lipglass: lipglassConfessions of a lipglass addict. My favorite product to shop for is lipgloss. Which is a little ironic because I’m not a bold lip kind of girl. In fact, I always end up with the same shade of lacquer in my cart, and its always some variation of a pink/peach combo. Day to day, Im a gloss-and-go girl. So I like to find a gloss that has decent color pay off (and not just clear with a tint of color), a gloss that is thick enough to give some good shine and wearability and a gloss that I can get away with wearing without liner or lipstick. A gloss that stands on its own. I have found that in MAC Lipglass. Its all of the above and a bag of chips. And when it wears off, I’m not feeling that tight dry feeling on my lips that I sometimes get from other products. This gloss gets two thumps up! $15 View Here Favorite Shades: Prrr, Pink Lemonade, Viva Glam V, Angel
